We know it is important for us to go out in the world and do things that are interesting and important to us, but at the same time we also need to be in nature to recharge our batteries, feel refreshed and re-inspired, be in tune with our inner self, and connect with the natural world around us. Chikmagalur is a small town located in the northern part of Karnataka, India. The town has a large hill, called Bhagamandala, which is a temple made of a rock, believed to be a place where Lord Shiva used to meditate. The town is located on the Malaprabha River, which runs from the Bhagamandala hill to its confluence with the Netravathi River, some 14 km downstream of the town. For those of us whose idea of a holiday is to be somewhere remote with nothing to do, Riverwoods Homestay is one of those “perfect” places. The homestay is situated at the confluence of the Bhadra and the Cauvery rivers, and is set amongst paddy fields and coconut groves, with a backdrop of lush green hills. The homestay has its own organic farm where the property gets all of its produce. The homestay is also down the road from the Sarangapatna reservoir, where the guests can take a refreshing dip in the cool waters.

I decided to drop by this beautiful homestay in Chikmagalur. In these 3 days I could see the essence of rural life. We had a wonderful time with family and friends.
