 It is a well known fact that a person’s well being is directly related to the amount of green space one has in their daily life. Access to nature is vital, and can be a vital source to reduce stress and stay healthy. Nature is a wonderful source of healing and guidance to help us live a more fulfilling life. It can be a source of healing to help us when we are ill, a place to get away from our daily lives and relax, a place to get in touch with our inner selves, a source of inspiration and a place in which we can reconnect with our past.

Life is all about balance. We know it is important for us to go out in the world and do things that are interesting and important to us, but at the same time we also need to be in nature to recharge our batteries, feel refreshed and re-inspired, be in tune with our inner self, and connect with the natural world around us. The Riverwoods Homestay is located in Muri post, in the Chikmagalur district of Karnataka, about 140km from Bengaluru. The area is known for its scenic river valleys, and the homestay is located in the picturesque Muri valley, in a serene and lush village called Nahanamur.

I have been a backpacker for a long time now, and have been lucky enough to have been to almost 85% of the countries in the world. In India, the high mountains and the high plains have been my favorite places to explore, and from my base in Chikmagalur, I have been lucky enough to have been to all the hill stations in the state. There are many places in Chikmagalur that have a special place in my heart, and a special place in my heart is a place called Riverwoods.
